madrid, part ii

Now, there are lots of fancy restaurants and cafés and bars (Spanish people like beer-- even McDonald's value meals have beer included in their beverage selection). They like to live the life, you see. They go out after work and hang out on bars and places to drink and eat tapas, pulutan in the Philippines. For each glass or bottle of beer you order, you get a free serving of tapas. Various types of food can be included in the tapas list, ranging from fries to sandwiches to chicken wings. Some bars would serve the tapas of their choice, and some would give you the freedom to choose whichever you like. With restaurants that serve tapas automatically, one would generally get better tasting ones after each round of beer.

In going around Madrid, we saw a lot of beer joints, or cervecerías, but we didn't try any. We instead went on this Italian restaurant and ordered pizza and beef and ice cream. I don't remember what the name was, but my meal cost me around 13€. I didn't eat much, so I guess that was a quite expensive meal for that night. Plus, we were in the city. That makes the prices a little more expensive. Menú del día, or menu of the day, is the better way of spending your money on food if you're going for quantity. For 8-12€, you'd have a meal consisting of three courses. If you're tight on the budget, that's a good way of saving some cash.

We're with Sir Reden, Joenille's Span teacher. Taken from that Italian resto:

There are some fastfood chains around here too. I've already seen McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Dunkin' Donunts, and Starbucks Coffee. We've eaten in everyone of 'em, except Dunkin' Donuts.

Argel and I treated Joenille in Madrid for his post-birthday eat-out. Starbucks was his choice:

¡Hasta luego!

Je crois que tu déjà me sois partie.
