While not doing my undergraduate project presentation due in less 10 hours, I thought about searching for the meaning of names.
In this post and this post only, I give out my real name to the entire virtual world. As much as possible, I don't want to use real names of people in my posts, especially me. But I already did in this post. Most of my friends link this blog using my real name anyway so I guess it wouldn't be such a big deal to use it on this one.

My real name is Jeric Francis. Let's leave it at that. I was just curious about what's-in-my-name so I consulted with my trusty buddy, the triple dubya. I typed in some words and I conveniently selected this site.
Je cherche pour mon nom. I found out that Jeric was only a variant of Jerrick, the modern version of Derek. It has seven other derivatives: Jerack, Jereck, Jerek, Jerick, Jerric, Jerrik, and Jerriq.
Apparently, Jeric means "gifted ruler" or "the people's ruler." Whoa. Haha! Kaunti na lang parang si Pacman na, the people's champ! Another funny thing is that people usually misspell my name (Jerick or Jerrick or Geric, sometimes even Gerrick), even after telling them several times what the real deal was. Okay lang naman magkamali eh, 'wag lang madalas hehe.
Mon deuxième pronom, Francis. I know that this was taken from the famous French saint, Francis of Assisi. What I didn't know was its meaning. It had two meanings, "free man" and surprisingly, "frenchman." Wow, tinandhana talaga akong mag-aral ng wikang Pranses! Even if I sometimes suck at French, I can still say that I have some French in me, even if it's only the meaning of my second first name. Hilariously enough are the thirty-five other variants of Francis, and I wouldn't want to write all 'em here. To give a few: Chico, Frasquito, Franzen (parang PBB...), Pacorro, Pancho (whaa?!), Paquito (whaa?! whaa?!), and Panchito (whaa?! whaa?! whaa?!).
All in all, there could be 280 different combinations of the varied forms of my name.

So I am a great ruler and a free man. I could be the people's ruler. A free, great ruler.
Whatever. I don't think I am.
I can lead, but I can't influence.
I am free, but I'm bounded by capacity.
